RSA Films is a global commercial production company. For over 50 years, the business has produced award-winning campaigns for agencies and brands worldwide, with offices across London, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Greater China.
RSA Films operates across multiple divisions and productions, each with its own revenue recognition and reporting requirements. Prior to working with 4PointZero, the company used Iris Exchequer, a legacy desktop-based system that required significant reliance on Excel for reporting and reconciliations.
Key challenges included:
Given the scale and structure of the organisation, a large proportion of the finance team’s time was spent on processing and manual report preparation rather than higher-value analysis.
In 2021, the CFO at RSA Films engaged 4PointZero to replace their existing accounting system. This provided an opportunity to improve reporting capabilities and automate key processes. Following a detailed scoping exercise, 4PointZero recommended a combination of systems to meet RSA’s operational and reporting requirements.
The solution included Twinfield which provides a scalable accounting platform with strong multi-entity and multi-currency capabilities. We also introduced Basecone, which brought in automated invoice capture and approval workflows to reduce manual processing. This approach meant RSA could implement a system architecture capable of supporting both core accounting and more advanced production reporting.
We completed the implementation of the UK finance system over a three-month period. This included system configuration, data migration and report building. A balances-per-period migration approach was put in place which allows RSA to retain prior year and current year comparatives without migrating full transactional data.
One of the key priorities RSA required was a way to configure dimensional reporting for productions and divisions. To support future consolidation, a standardised global chart of accounts was recommended to enable consistent reporting across different accounting systems and jurisdictions across the group’s international entities.
The implementation has given RSA Films a more structured and scalable finance platform. They’ve seen a reduced reliance on manual processes and significantly improved access to financial data, both historic and in real-time. Their finance team is better positioned to manage day-to-day operations within the system, with improved access to reporting and reduced operational complexity.
Monika Evanson, Head of Finance at RSA Films, highlighted the value of moving toward a more efficient and structured platform.
“4PointZero supported us through the implementation of a new finance system, helping us move away from legacy processes to a more efficient and structured platform. Their understanding of our reporting requirements and collaborative approach ensured the system was configured to meet our operational needs.”
